The Temple of Aphaia stands on a hill about twenty minutes from Aegina port and was built around 500 BC on top of an older sanctuary. It is a Doric temple dedicated to the goddess Aphaia and together with the Parthenon and the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio forms the so called sacred triangle of antiquity.
